Day 3

Walking tour today. We covered a good area, starting near Museum Island. Lots of walking, in theory, means lots of pictures, but I actually didn't get a lot that I liked. Better luck tomorrow? Today was still fun, though. Saw lots of touristy stuff--Checkpoint Charlie, the famed Humboldt University--and got some shots of that. I'm not good at jazzing up architecture/memorials/etc., though.

We also visited the Holocaust Memorial

In the plaza outside the museum area, we ran into our friends the "Speak English?" ladies. My guess is that they're scammers, since we've seen the same one at tourist points all over the city, but maybe they really are just trying to feed their children.

The plaza is also full of people lounging around, playing football, reading, etc.

We also met one of Freeman's local contacs, Stine, and her sister Isabel (?). They are incredibly welcoming. They accompanied Michelle and me to a bookstore in Potsdamer Platz and then led us to the U to get home. Wish I'd taken a photo of them.

I'm tired and crippled from walking around on pebbly shoes all day. Going to make it an early night.
